keri and kris

Hello, we are Keri and Kristen recent college graduates from the United States. We are also two of the first volunteers sent from Stonehill College in Massachusetts to work at the Hogar del Nino. As the first volunteers we wanted to introduce ourselves, the program and our current projects.

Volunteers will be sent to live at Club de la Costa every August and will remain working at Hogar del Nino until the following June. Currently, Hogar del Nino is in the process of making exciting changes. The school is working to further develop it’s child care program into a fully educational program. The current and future volunteers sent by Stonehill College will be working to enhance this project based on their personal areas of study and skill.

Keri is working in the Sala Cuna to establish an infant development and stimulation program for the over 200 children currently enrolled. This program will include new daily routines, staff workshops and developmentally appropriate activities. The objective is to create a self sustaining program that allows each child who enters access to the tools and necessities that will assure proper development.

Kristen is working on developing an education based program, in grades Pre-Kindergarten through Pre-Primero. This program will include a fully developed curriculum, new daily routines, effective assessment procedure and staff workshops. The objective of this program is to ensure all the students in the Hogar del Nino’s early education program are educated fully and equally in an environment that encourages their learning and keeps them safe and secure.

Our respective programs will start up in January. If anyone has any questions or would like to get involved in our or any cause at the Hogar del Nino please contact us at Keri@tinyroots.org.
