Last Saturday the 31st of October, I as Casa de Campo Living was invited to play in the ‘Torneo entre Amigos’ golf tournament being held at La Estancia Golf resort, which is on the road to Bayahibe, past the La Romana airport.

The tournament started around 1.30pm and was in the form ‘Best Ball; Stableford.’ It was a beautiful day to play golf – enhanced by the free Millers beer, whisky, vodka, and other refreshing drinks being offered to players!

DSC04045Having only ever played golf on the Casa de Campo courses, I was very pleasantly surprised by the la Estancia course – for those of you familiar with Casa de Campo’s courses, it’s most easily described as a cross between the Links and the Dye Fore golf courses. Like the Links it has holes that wind themselves around lakes, flanked with palm trees and peppered with dreaded sand bunkers – charming and pleasant holes, which are relatively easy to play. Whilst on the other hand, like the Dye Fore, there are stunning holes which skirt a large canyon, with a river running through it; holes that really challenge you, forcing you to drive across parts of the canyon, or down a mini-cliff – simply spectacular!

The tournament was a huge success – with approximately 35 teams playing, the course was full and everyone had a great time; of course most teams wanted to win, but the atmosphere was still relaxed enough so that we could enjoy a few laughs – in between our determination to out drive our opponents (or in my case – just hit the ball!)

The tournament ended as the sun was setting and everyone retired to the Club House to relax, enjoy a few drinks and of course await the prize-giving ceremony and dinner!

Tomorrow we will be publishing an article about the evening prize-giving event – with even more photos and of course the winners!

Casa de Campo Living would like to thank La Estancia, Tiberio Avanzini, Pedro Dajer and Gladis Quinoñes for inviting us to play – if you are hosting an event and would like us to attend, and cover it for Casa de Campo Living, just email info@casadecampoliving.com.
