On Sunday the 4th of September, just hours before the STING concert in Altos de Chavón, the 34th International Tennis Tournament “Copa Proseguros – Casa de Campo” was concluded with a prize-giving ceremony at the La Terraza Tennis Club in Casa de Campo.
During the ceremony, Tennis players from the Dominican Republic, Jesús Feliz and Jacoba Rijo were crowned the champions of this year’s tournament.

Open masculina: Jesús Feliz (RD) derrotó a Wilson Johnson (RD) 6-2, 6-1.
B 35 años ó más masculina: Carlos Pichardo (RD) a Alberto Pichardo (RD) 7-5, 7-5.
C-1 21-39 años masculina: Faustino Minaya (RD) a Carlos Bernal (RD) 10-4.
C-1 40 años ó más masculina: Massimo Gennatiempo (Italia) a Francisco Carela (RD) 10-7.
C-2 21-39 años masculina: Angel Guzmán (RD) a Abel Rodríguez (RD) 10-2.
C-2 40 años ó más masculina: Augusto de la Cruz (NY a José Pilarte (RD) 6-1, 0-6, 10-2.
C-3 21-39 años masculina: Juan Clough (RD) a Jimmy Cuevas (RD) 8-5
C-3 40 años ó más masculina: Persio Maldonado (RD) a Angel Bernal (RD) 6-0, 6-2.
C-1 femenina: Jacoba Rijo (RD) a María Mastrolilli (RD) 6-0, 6-0.
C-2 femenina: Candy Belón (RD) a María Mustalier (PR) 10-3.
C-3 femenina: Alina López (PR) a Aridia Taveras (RD) 6-2, 7-5.
Taking part in the awards ceremony was Claudio Silvestri, President of the Casa de Campo Hotel and Vincenzo Mastrolilli, the tournament’s founder.
Also taking part in the prize giving was Daniel Hernández, the general manager of the Casa de Campo hotel and Emilio Vásquez, Casa de Campo’s director of tennis.
The event was sponsored by Proseguros, Hotel Casa de Campo, Central Romana Corporation, American Express, Brugal, Tropigás, Cerveza Presidente, Logomarca, Wilson, Grupo SID, Tropical Tours, Caribbean Cinemas, Domicem and Caribbean Turf.
Taking part in the tournament were many tennis players from the Dominican Republic, especially Santo Domingo but also many international players from Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Aruba, Bonaire, Saint Croix, New York, Miami, Spain and Italy.
