To commemorate the occasion, Pope John Paul II sent the ashes of Poland\u2019s patron saint, St. Stanislaus, as well as a hand-carved statue from Krakow.<\/p> Why is Easter on a different date every year?<\/strong><\/p> According to the Bible, Jesus Christ\u2019s death and resurrection occurred at the time of the Jewish Passover, which was celebrated on the first Full Moon following the vernal equinox. It was agreed in AD 325 that all the Catholic Churches would celebrate Easter on the Sunday following the first full moon after the spring equinox, which is March 21 in the Gregorian calendar.
