A scary thought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>So what can we do?<\/strong> Nothing \u2013 we just have to hope (and pray) that Hurricane Katia sticks to her assigned route and leaves us alone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Hurricane Katia \u2013 The Facts<\/strong><\/p><figure><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casadecampoliving.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hurricane_katia_dominican_republic3.jpg?ssl=1\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32993\" title=\"hurricane_katia_dominican_republic\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casadecampoliving.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hurricane_katia_dominican_republic3.jpg?resize=500%2C283&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"283\"><\/a><\/figure><ul>\n<li>Tropical Storm Katia became Hurricane Katia during the night<\/li>\n<li>Currently, Hurricane Katia has maximum sustained winds of 75mph<\/li>\n<li>The centre of Hurricane Katia is now 1600 miles from the Dominican Republic\u2019s capital city, Santo Domingo<\/li>\n<li>Hurricane Katia is a category 1 hurricane, who is \u2018predicted\u2019 to develop into a category 2 hurricane by tomorrow (Friday) evening and a category 3 hurricane by Sunday.<\/li>\n<li>Hurricane Katia\u2019s predicted path takes her to the North of the Dominican Republic \u2013 she is predicted to come no closer than 500 miles of our Northern shoreline.<\/li>\n<li>Hurricane Katia is a little behind schedule, but is on track! What does that mean? Well, if you compare where she is now with where she was predicted to be, Katia is on the track that was predicted for her \u2013 but her development has been slower than anticipated, according to predictions she should have developed into a Hurricane sooner.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<blockquote><figure><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casadecampoliving.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hurricane_katia_dominican_republic1.jpg?ssl=1\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32991\" title=\"hurricane_katia_dominican_republic\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casadecampoliving.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hurricane_katia_dominican_republic1.jpg?resize=514%2C300&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"514\" height=\"300\"><\/a><\/figure><p><strong>Hurricane Katia: None of the \u201cforecast models\u201d cross the Dominican Republic<\/strong><\/p><div style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>The Good News<\/strong><\/div><div style=\"text-align: left;\">All \u2018forecast models\u2019 (even the crazy outlier one) take Katia NORTH of the Dominican Republic \u2013 so for now it looks like the Dominican Republic and Casa de Campo is set to stay Hurricane free! Woohoo!<\/div><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote><div style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Hurricane Katia will (hopefully) move into the \u2018trough\u2019, because hurricanes lurve troughs!&nbsp;<\/strong><\/div><figure><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32992\" title=\"hurricane_katia_dominican_republic\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casadecampoliving.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hurricane_katia_dominican_republic2.jpg?resize=500%2C359&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"359\"><\/figure><div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casadecampoliving.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hurricane_katia_dominican_republic2.jpg?ssl=1\"> <\/a><\/div><div style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>From the \u201cweather channel\u201d (weatherchannel.com)<br>\n<\/strong>Maybe I\u2019m a pessimist (or sensationalist more like), but I find the \u201cforecast models\u201d very difficult to believe. However, this morning I watched channel #93, the weather channel over breakfast and they explained WHY Hurricane Katia is expected to head North and although they were very brief in their explanation \u2013 I\u2019m now much more convinced! So WHY do they say Katia will head North? Because a \u2018trough\u2019 in the Northern Atlantic ocean (off of the Eastern coast of the US) will drag it that way. A trough is an area of \u2018low pressure\u2019 and as \u2018troughs\u2019 are often the birth place of Tropical Cyclones \u2013 Hurricanes seem to be inexplicably attracted to them\u2026.sorry that\u2019s all I know!<br>\n(Reminder: I am a weather \u2018enthusiast\u2019 not an expert!)<\/div><div style=\"text-align: left;\"><a
