de Chav\u00f3n and this week for the first time I actually saw them \u2013 and here is the photo to prove it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casadecampoliving.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/vultures_altosdechavon1.jpg?ssl=1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casadecampoliving.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/vultures_altosdechavon1.jpg?resize=180%2C157&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28858\" title=\"vultures_altosdechavon\" height=\"157\" width=\"180\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As it turns out I have seen and see the vultures in Altos de Chav\u00f3n on a daily basis \u2013 it\u2019s just that I never before realized that they were vultures (despite having been told) \u2013 I thought the birds I saw were just big birds, possibly even some kind of bird of prey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course discovering the birds were in fact vultures, meant I wasn\u2019t exactly wrong (they are big birds, they are birds of prey and I hate being wrong) \u2013 I was just surprised, vultures are portrayed as being evil and sinister (think The Lion King) and as I\u2019d never seen them prowling around eating the eyes out of any recently slain, animals like cows, lizards, cats or small&nbsp;chihuahuas, I refused to believe that the mysterious birds in Altos de Chav\u00f3n were vultures!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These vultures really had me fooled \u2013 in the 3 years that I have lived here, I had never once seen them \u2018sitting down\u2019, or perched and low and behold on my way out of the office on Friday afternoon there they were \u2013 resting on the famous \u2018Titanic\u2019 look-out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So there you have it, the story behind this photo, which incidentally I\u2019m rather proud of &nbsp;\u2013 I\u2019m especially fond of that fact that you can see a vulture in flight in the background (which shows how when in flight the vultures do just look like big birds).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">P.S Having just done some research on vultures I have discovered that they are in fact not considered as \u2018birds of prey\u2019 but rather \u2018scavengers\u2019 because they just eat other random dead animals\/carcasses, but I don\u2019t like being wrong so don\u2019t argue with me on
