This Thursday the 24th of March, Altos de Chav\u00f3n will celebrate the opening of a new art exhibit \u2018Mujer Enamorada\u2019 in the Altos de Chav\u00f3n art gallery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The inauguration cocktail for this great new exhibit is taking place this Thursday the 24th of March at 7.30pm and everyone is invited to enjoy a welcome cocktail and the impressive new art display!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new exhibit is a collection of art works by 7 female Dominican artists and answers the questions \u2018What do women want\u2019, the answer? \u2018Nothing, but love.\u2019 With this art collection \u2018Mujer Enamorada\u2019 (woman in love), the 7 artists show us their interpretation of love\u2026\u2026a very interesting topic \u2013 I can\u2019t wait to see this one!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you can\u2019t make opening night this Thursday, don\u2019t worry the exhibit will be open from the 24th of March through to the 25th of April, open daily from 9am to 6pm \u2013 except Tuesdays, when the gallery is closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Siete mujeres, dominicanas, madres y artistas vinculadas a trav\u00e9s del arte presentan en La Galer\u00eda Principal Altos de Chavon una exposici\u00f3n que busca responder la enigm\u00e1tica interrogante \u00bfQue Quieren las mujeres?  Las siete artistas coinciden en que la respuesta es simple: Nada mas que amar, Punto.<\/p>

\u00d3nice Mej\u00eda, Am\u00e9rica Olivo, Olivette Santoni, Miguelina Rivera, Sara Mart\u00ednez, Rafaela Luna e Ivonne V\u00e9lez Cordero. Mejia, Olivo, Santoni, Rivera y Mart\u00ednez son egresadas de La Escuela de Dise\u00f1o Altos de Chav\u00f3n.<\/p>

Onice,<\/strong> nacida y criada en La Romana, ha sido nominada dos veces al Premio Nacional de la Juventud, ha participado en mas de diez exposiciones individuales y colectivas en el pa\u00eds e internacionalmente.  La gran mayor\u00eda de la obra producida por esta joven artista se encuentra en colecciones privadas en nuestro pa\u00eds, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Per\u00fa, Miami, New Jersey, Paris, Espa\u00f1a e Islandia.<\/p>

Am\u00e9rica<\/strong> dirigi\u00f3 su propia galeria de arte en La Marina Casa de Campo durante cinco a\u00f1os, y es presidente de America Olivo S.A. empresa creadora de productos de arte y dise\u00f1o. Es licenciada en Pintura por Massachussets College of Art, Boston, y ha realizado cursos especializados de arte y dibujo en Grecia, Altos de Chav\u00f3n, y Parsons, en Nueva York.  Am\u00e9rica ha participado en m\u00e1s de treinta exposiciones, individuales y colectivas a nivel nacional e internacional.<\/p>

Olivette<\/strong> inicia su temprano camino en el arte guiada por la mano privilegiada de la gran artista y profesora Nidia Serra.  Celebra su primera exposici\u00f3n individual, \u201cEl Esp\u00edritu de Las Cosas\u201d, en el marco de los quince a\u00f1os del emblem\u00e1tico Centro Nouveau en Santo Domingo, captando gran atenci\u00f3n de los cr\u00edticos de arte y prensa especializada.  Ha participado en m\u00e1s de veinte exposiciones, entre individuales y colectivas.  Egresada de la UNPHU en Dise\u00f1o de interiores, es socia de la empresa Eventos x 3, especializada en la planificaci\u00f3n de eventos, dise\u00f1o y elaboraci\u00f3n de arreglos florales, y fue presidenta de Florstanza, negocio que oper\u00f3 por tres a\u00f1os planificando eventos en La Romana.<\/p>

Miguelina <\/strong>es la \u00fanica integrante del grupo radicada fuera del pa\u00eds, vive y trabaja en Francia.  Ha representado a nuestro pa\u00eds en eventos como la Bienal de Cuenca, la Bienal del Caribe, en Houghton Gallery en New York City, en la sede de la UNESCO en Paris, y enfrente del palacio de Justicia en Liege, B\u00e9lgica.  En 1998 culmina su licenciatura en artes pl\u00e1sticas en The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art en New York; hasta la fecha Miguelina es la \u00fanica estudiante dominicana en ser admitida en esta escuela.<\/p>

S<\/strong>arah<\/strong> tambi\u00e9n es egresada de la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes. Completa su formaci\u00f3n art\u00edstica con cursos especializados en  Historia del Arte, Administraci\u00f3n Cultural y Formaci\u00f3n Dirigencial, Talleres de Arte para Ni\u00f1os y Rescate de Monumentos, este \u00faltimo en Madrid Espa\u00f1a.  Su exposici\u00f3n individual m\u00e1s reciente se present\u00f3 en la Fundaci\u00f3n Global Desarrollo y Democracia FUNGLODE en 2006 bajo el nombre Bailando Solas.  Desde 2003 hasta 2009 particip\u00f3 en exposiciones colectivas en el estado de Rhode Island, Estados Unidos.<\/p>

Rafaela<\/strong> realiz\u00f3 su especialidad en Pintura en la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, y Arte Publicitario en la UASD.  Ganadora en 2004 del Primer premio del 4to Premio Pintura de las Am\u00e9ricas.  Con exposiciones individuales y colectivas celebradas nacional e internacionalmente, la cr\u00edtica dominicana reconoce en esta joven artista sus excelentes dotes para la ilustraci\u00f3n, lo cual se corrobora con sus ilustraciones para cuentos, entre ellas la del cuento \u201cLa Perfeccionista\u201d, de Patricia Highsmith; ilustraci\u00f3n del libro de poemas \u201cDevuelta a Casa\u201d de la escritora Rosa Silverio conjuntamente con el artista Antonio Guadalupe, entre otros.<\/p>

Ivonne V\u00e9lez Cordero<\/strong> estudi\u00f3 Dise\u00f1o de Interiores, Educaci\u00f3n Primaria, Publicidad y Comunicaciones y m\u00e1s recientemente, Sicolog\u00eda Cl\u00ednica.  Posee una s\u00f3lida experiencia docente, principalmente en educaci\u00f3n temprana trabajando con ni\u00f1os en las edades de 3 a 6 a\u00f1os; actualmente es directora y profesora del preescolar Early Horizons School, de La Romana.<\/p>

En conjunto, son innumerables las muestras en la que este extraordinario grupo de artistas ha participado.  Desde los escenarios locales hasta galer\u00edas en el extranjero: Puerto Rico, New York, Miami, Rhode Island, Mil\u00e1n, Berl\u00edn y Francia, entre otros.  La muestra tiene el privilegio de incluir la Opera Prima de Ivonne V\u00e9lez, nov\u00edsima artista que agrega frescura al conjunto de obras de las m\u00e1s experimentadas. En esta muestra permanecen intactos los estilos y manera personal en que cada una de ellas presenta el amor a trav\u00e9s de su obra art\u00edstica. La colectiva Mujer Enamorada, esta compuesta por dibujos, esculturas, medios mixtos, \u00f3leos sobre tela y \u00f3leos sobre madera.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
