In this week\u2019s \u2018Memories of Casa de Campo\u2019 post, Carol Burke takes us on an amazing journey through Casa de Campo before it became modernised \u2013 Carol\u2019s beautiful photos show us how Casa de Campo used to be\u2026dirt roads and all! It\u2019s absolutely incredible how much it has changed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

In the time before Casa de Campo had a runway long enough for large jetliners from Miami, Florida, we had to fly into the Santo Domingo airport and drive home to Casa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drive was beautiful and exciting along a coastal road that curved its way through towns and villages.<\/p>\n\n\n

Within Casa there were many roads, the main roads were paved roads that cars, trucks, motorcycles, and golf carts could travel on. Avenida Barranca was a main road that traveled uphill from Avenida Central and led to Avenida Villa Tennis and the Tennis Courts. It was lined with flowering Mother-of-Chocolate trees.<\/p>\n\n\n

There were also roads meant for golf carts only. Golf cart roads meandered through all of Casa near the golf courses.<\/p>\n\n\n

Golf carts roads were beautiful and scenic as they zigzagged through the landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n

Some roads were straight and direct such as this road to Altos de Chavon,<\/p>\n\n\n

while other roads were serpentine and curved out of sight ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n

Sometimes there was a water obstacle in the road,<\/p>\n\n\n

and other times the road opened up to the Caribbean Sea.<\/p>\n\n\n

The roads of Casa de Campo, whether straight roads or twisty, often led to views of beautiful villas.
\nOne road led to a villa with a narrow brick pathway.<\/p>\n\n\n

Another road led by a villa with a park-like lawn and a palm-thatched palapa as an entryway.<\/p>\n\n\n

One small road in Casa traveled to a formal garden with hedges laid out in a carefully planned geometric design,<\/p>\n\n\n

and another road arrived at welcoming open doors.<\/p>\n\n\n

Finally after roaming the roads of Casa we find the one which takes us home.<\/p>\n\n\n
