Over the weekend, on Saturday the 17th of April the Farr 40 Pre World Trials took place out of the Marina Casa de Campo \u2013 which signalled the start of the eagerly anticipated Farr 40 regatta. (Articulo abajo en Espa\u00f1ol.)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Farr 40 regatta officially encompasses 4 days of sailing races from Wednesday the 21st of April through to Saturday the 24th of April, however given the high calibre of this event many other VIP dinners, cocktails and parties will be taking place throughout the week in celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n

Although most events are VIP invitation only, the Noche Dominicana<\/a>, being held tomorrow the 20th of April from 7-11pm, on the Calle Barlovento of the Marina Casa de Campo is open to everybody! It will be a night of traditional Dominican celebration to welcome the sailors of the regatta and to celebrate the beginning of the Rolex Farr 40! There will be a Perico Ripao, Dominican food and drinks, the Kandela dancers and a costume contest<\/a>! The following is a press release from the Marina Casa de Campo about the Pre World Trials and the official start of the event on Wednesday the 21st of April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Casa de Campo Marina is ready for the most important international event celebrated in the Caribbean <\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Rolex Farr 40 World Championship 2010<\/p>

With the Pre World trials, Casa de Campo Marina officially begins the Rolex Farr 40 World Championship 2010.<\/p>

During the weekend races were took place from which the Estate Master, owned by Lisa & Martin Hill from Australia, ended up winning the first place, followed by Doug Douglass\u2019 Goombay Smash on the second place and Jim Richardson\u2019s Barking Mad on the third, both boats from the USA. There were a total of five races done in order to finish the pre world trials.<\/p>

The other boats ended in the following order: Alessandro Barnaba\u2019s Fiamma (ITA); Massimo Mezzaroma & Alberto Signorini\u2019s Nerone (ITA); Alberto Rossi & Robert Strappati\u2019s Enfant Terrible (ITA); Helmut & Evan Jahn\u2019s Flash Gordon 6 (USA); Wolfang Schaefer\u2019s Struntje Light (GER); Alex Roepers\u2019 Plenty (USA) and Guido Belgiorno-Nettis\u2019 Transfusion (AUS).<\/p>

Once the race ended, the contestants and their crew went back to the Farr 40 Village, section of the Casa de Campo Marina dedicated to the regatta, for a cocktail where they enjoyed a pleasant moment and received the Pre World\u2019s awards.<\/p>

The Rolex Farr 40 World Championship 2010 will officially begin on Wednesday April 21st, with participants from USA, Australia, Germany and Italy, who have been at Casa de Campo, La Romana, since last week.<\/p>

Present at the event is Geoff Stagg, owner of Stagg Yachts, Inc, manufacturers of the Farr 40 boats, and Gianfranco Fini, Casa de Campo Yacht Club\u2019s commodore.
\nThe regatta is being sponsored in the Dominican Republic by Casa de Campo, Land Rover, Grey Goose, Cervecer\u00eda Nacional Dominicana, Grupo Alaska, Ritmo Platinum and American Express.<\/p>

The Rolex Farr40 World Championship is one of the most significant sailing events celebrated annually around the world and attracts serious competition between 40-foot yachts.<\/p>

The Farr 40, is a 40-foot sailboat by Farr Yacht Design. La Romana, RD. Con la celebraci\u00f3n de las pruebas Pre mundiales, La Marina de Casa de Campo da inicio oficial a la Rolex Farr 40 World Championship 2010.<\/p>\n

Durante el fin de semana se llevaron a cabo carreras de las que result\u00f3 ganador en el primer lugar el velero Estate Master capitaneado por Lisa y Martin Hill de Australia, seguido en segundo lugar por el Goombay Smash de Doug Douglass y en tercera posici\u00f3n el Barking Mad de Jim Richardson, ambos provenientes de los Estados Unidos. Se realizaron en total 5 carreras para lograr las posiciones finales.
\nEn las posiciones siguientes terminaron las embarcaciones Fiamma de Alessandro Barnaba (ITA), Nerone de Massimo Mezzaroma y Alberto Signorini (ITA), Enfant Terrible de Alberto Rossi y Roberto Strappati (ITA).<\/p>\n

Luego siguieron el Flash Gordon 6 por Helmut & Evan Jahn (USA), Struntje Light por Wolfgang Schaefer (GER), Plenty por Alex Roepers (USA) y Transfusion bajo el mando de Guido Belgiorno-Nettis (AUS).
\nUna vez finalizada la competencia, los veleristas regresaron a la Farr 40 Village, espacio en la Marina de Casa de Campo destinado a la regata, para un c\u00f3ctel en el que compartieron amenamente y luego procedieron a la premiaci\u00f3n de los Pre Mundiales.<\/p>\n

La regata Rolex Farr 40 World Championship 2010 comenzar\u00e1 oficialmente el pr\u00f3ximo mi\u00e9rcoles 21 de abril, con la participaci\u00f3n de veleristas de Estados Unidos, Australia, Alemania e Italia, quienes se encuentran en Casa de Campo, La Romana, desde hace ya varios d\u00edas.<\/p>\n

El evento cuenta con la presencia de Geoff Stagg, propietario de Stagg Yachts, Inc, empresa fabricante de las embarcaciones Farr 40, adem\u00e1s de Gianfranco Fini, comodoro del Casa de Campo Yacht Club.<\/p>\n
