{"id":318380,"date":"2010-02-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2010-02-04T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/casadecampoliving.com\/my-birthday-in-palmilla-sun-sea-champagne-and-good-friends\/"},"modified":"2022-11-10T10:38:01","modified_gmt":"2022-11-10T14:38:01","slug":"my-birthday-in-palmilla-sun-sea-champagne-and-good-friends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/casadecampoliving.com\/es\/my-birthday-in-palmilla-sun-sea-champagne-and-good-friends\/","title":{"rendered":"My Birthday in Palmilla; sun, sea, champagne and good friends…"},"content":{"rendered":"\"rebecca<\/a>\n\nAs your Casa de Campo Living editor<\/a>, I feel it necessary to publish an article and photos about my birthday, self-promoting? maybe! flashy and a \u00a0little pretentious? very possibly; nevertheless enjoy – these photos and the accompanying story are of a Palmilla celebration<\/a> at it’s best!\n\nSo before I begin, I would like to announce that I am now in fact 27 years old and not 37 as some of my wonderful students at the Abraham Lincoln schoo<\/a>l suggested (little\u00a0darlings.) \u00a0At some point in the future I’m sure I’ll regret announcing my age, but for now I don’t really care!\n\nSo here we go – the following is a highly censored (although possibly not enough) account of how I celebrated my birthday:\n\nStep 1:<\/strong> Assemble friends in the Marina<\/a> and acquire ample amounts of champagne.\n\nAs always in the Dominican Republic, the curse of ‘Dominican time’ meant that a few very important friends arrived a little late – but as they came bearing gifts, champagne and a mini-speed boat, and because we never actaully expect to leave on time we didn’t mind at all! In fact to pass the time, we sunbathed on the front on the boat and shared a few cheeky bottles of champagne – before even leaving the Marina. <\/a>\n\nAnd here I am with my wonderful friend Eugenia enjoying the Marina Casa de Campo<\/a>, my champagne and apparently looking like Jackie Onassis:\n\n\"DSC01658\"<\/a>\n\nStep 2: <\/strong>voyage\u00a0to Palmilla<\/a>\n\nOur initial plan was to journey our way to Palmilla <\/a>whilst still taking the sun and enjoying the\u00a0champagne\u00a0‘above deck’ but it turned out the weather and the waves were against us, and so soaking wet and clutching our hats, sun-screen and the champagne we retreated indoors….\n\nHere we ‘struggle’ on despite the adverse weather conditions:\n\n\"getting<\/a>\n\nand here safely back inside – champagne and flashy sunglasses safe!\n\n\"inside\"<\/a>\n\nStep 3:<\/strong> ‘tour’ Palmilla<\/a> on dangerous and fun mini-speed boat!\n\nI LOVE the mini-speed boat (whose real name is apparently ‘sea-doo’ or something) – there is no better way to nosey around the other boats and parties going on in Palmilla<\/a>, and has to be one of the best to be ‘seen’ as well as go ‘seeing!’\n\nLoving the mini-speed boat:\n\n\"mini-speed<\/a>\n\nOn this particular Saturday, given that the weather was pretty bad and it wasn’t a long weekend there wasn’t actually much to ‘see’ per se, except for Jacapo Avanzini’s 18th birthday party celebration happening on the boat next door to ours! As most of you know, I’m a teacher at the Abraham Lincoln school,<\/a> so that essentially meant a boat full of partying youngsters, mostly my students living it up on the boat next to me. With me celebrating my own birthday, I’m not sure for who that is more embarrassing! Nevertheless ‘kids’ here are the photos of you:\n\n\n
