Not overly convinced but impressed and amused by his creative way to earn a living, I gave him some pesos, and in exchange I got a small, very crudely printed booklet of his poetry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The best 20 pesos I ever spent! This man, Domingo Silverio, is actually very talented and in my opinion does actually deserve to get his poetry printed!.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this series of posts \u2018The gas station poet of Jarabacoa\u2019 we will be publishing Domingo\u2019s poems one by one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018La Venganza, is the second in this series of posts, if you would like to read the first poem we published \u2018Te so\u00f1e,\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/casadecampoliving.com\/2009\/10\/the-gas-station-poet-of-jarabacoa-te-sone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">click here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>La Venganza<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">Que lentas pasan las horas,<br>\nque lento marcha el reloj,<br>\ndime vida m\u00eda que fue lo que hice yo,<br>\npara que me hagas abandonado,<br>\nme dejaste tan solo confundido y apenado.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">Porque te has marchado,<br>\ny me dejas solitario,<br>\ny cada d\u00eda que pasa,<br>\nconsulto en mi calendario,<br>\ny miro el Domingo muy triste y apenado.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">Es in\u00fatil que ocultes,<br>\nque ya me olvidaste,<br>\nsoy un est\u00fapido mas,<br>\nde aquellos que tu enga\u00f1aste.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">Esta bien que a mi me pase,<br>\npor haber en ti confiado,<br>\npor haber sido perversa,<br>\nmi desprecio que has ganado.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ahora te pago yo,<br>\ncon la misma moneda,<br>\nque tu me hab\u00edas pagado<br>\nsolo te puedo dar un coraz\u00f3n vaci\u00f3,<br>\ncomo ese falso juramento,<br>\nque diste al amor mio.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those of you who do not speak Spanish we have translated the poem, which you can see below. Unfortunately, in translation the true essence of this beautiful poem is lost; it is very difficult to translate while still conveying the same meaning, nevertheless we have tried our best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span id=\":1lb\" dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Revenge <\/strong><\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">How slow the hours pass,<br>\nhow slow ticks the clock,<br>\ntell me my darling what I did,<br>\nthat made you leave me,<br>\nyou left me confused and distressed.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span dir=\"ltr\">Because you\u2019ve gone,<br>\nand left me alone,<br>\nand with each passing day,<br>\nI consult my calendar,<br>\nI pass every Sunday very sad and distressed.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">It\u2019s useless for you to hide,<br>\nyou\u2019ve already forgotten me,<br>\nI\u2019m just one more
