Therefore, ensuring that your vessel is in top-knotch condition is crucial to its life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In these series of articles, I will be going over various maintenace tips and practices to care for your boat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>TIP #2 \u2013 Clean and Re-Apply Antifouling Bottom Paint<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casadecampoliving.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/boat-2.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"boat\" class=\"wp-image-6540\" title=\"boat\" height=\"150\" width=\"150\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anti-fouling paint or bottom paint is a specialized covering applied to the hull of a boat, designed to slow the growth of organisms that would attach to the hull and affect performance and durability.&nbsp; Using chemicals called biocides that are released gradually during the boating season, anti-fouling paint reduces or eliminates marine growth on a boat\u2019s underwater surfaces.&nbsp; Most anti-fouling bottom paints use cuprous oxide, and generally, the more cuprous oxide in the paint, the better it will protect your boat\u2019s bottom.&nbsp; In order to re-apply anti-fouling paint, the boat must be hauled-out in a shipyard and painted by professionals.&nbsp; DYMS recommends that you re-apply anti-fouling paint&nbsp;<em>at least<\/em> once a year.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casadecampoliving-wp.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2009\/09\/ed.jpg?ssl=1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casadecampoliving.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/ed-225x300-2.jpg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"ed\" class=\"wp-image-6085\" title=\"ed\" height=\"300\" width=\"225\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This series of articles is contributed by Eduardo Hernandez, Business Development Manager at&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #3c78a7; text-decoration: none; padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\" href=\"https:\/\/casadecampoliving.com\/2009\/06\/a-ladies-champagne-evening-hosted-by-erh-marine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ERH Marine<\/a>.&nbsp; ERH Marine is the DR\u2019s leading yacht distributor, with a wide portfolio of brands that satisfy all boating needs, be it fish or cruise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dominican Yacht Management Service (DYMS \u2013 ERH Marine\u2019s sister company), offers services to manage and care for your boat in its entirety.
