As a result of working together, Amelia and Sarah were able to organize a Bazaar, to add an extra dynamic to the event and generate a little extra and much needed revenue for the Hogar del Nino!\n\nThe Cafe was held in one of the beach apartments, which are perfectly located just across from the Playa Minitas. The ‘apartment’ felt more like a small house or villa, with a beautiful open plan living space, dining room and kitchen looking out over a wooden deck with a swimming pool and a small garden.\n\nAmelia and Sarah chose to cater themselves, and the standard was easily as good as any professional caterer; homemade platano chips with gandules dip, mini-wraps, pastelon, corn bread bites and a delicious selection of sweet treats – mini chocolate sponge cakes and cookies. It was refreshing to see a good selection of vegetarian food – especially popular among figure conscience Casa de Campo women!\n\nAnd then there was the Bazaar! We lucky ladies spent the evening enjoying good food, drinks, conversation and shopping – the perfect combination! There were a variety of articles on sale, on one table a group of Abraham Lincoln pupils were selling Coach handbags, and jewelry, whilst their neighboring table had a selection of beautiful bed linen, necklaces and earrings. At the other end of the garden Susanna Joa, who owns the restaurant Chinois in the Casa de Campo marina, was showcasing her jewelry from her shop in the Capital. Maris Samayoa de Sosa, from Guatemala had a table of traditional Guatemalan home-ware; napkins, napkins rings Maria Isabel Samayoaand cushions. The final table was shared jointly by the shops Lokekeda and Cupid Libros, which are in La Romana, on Calle Duarte, of particular interest were the jewelry designed by Clarihylar.\n\nThe Cafe de la Leche, is a monthly event which brings together Casa de Campo\u2019s ladies to enjoy a light snack, a few drinks and pleasant conversation with the added bonus of contributing to the Hogar del Ni\u00f1o charity. Each lady brings a donation of dried milk, cereal or baby formula, which is then passed on to the Hogar del Ni\u00f1o\u2019s crib room where it is provides 40% of the milk needed each month.\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

\n\nThis month’s Cafe de la Leche was jointly hosted by two friends; Sarah de Castro and Amelia Pereya, who chose to share the challenge of preparing the Cafe de la Leche feast! As a result of working together, Amelia and Sarah were able to organize a Bazaar, to add an extra dynamic to the event and generate a little extra and much needed revenue for the Hogar del Nino!\n\nThe Cafe was held in one of the beach apartments, which are perfectly located just across from the Playa Minitas. The ‘apartment’ felt more like a small house or villa, with a beautiful open plan living space, dining room and kitchen looking out over a wooden deck with a swimming pool and a small garden.\n\nAmelia and Sarah chose to cater themselves, and the standard was easily as good as any professional caterer; homemade platano chips with gandules dip, mini-wraps, pastelon, corn bread bites and a delicious selection of sweet treats – mini chocolate sponge cakes and cookies. It was refreshing to see a good selection of vegetarian food – especially popular among figure conscience Casa de Campo women!\n\nAnd then there was the Bazaar! We lucky ladies spent the evening enjoying good food, drinks, conversation and shopping – the perfect combination! There were a variety of articles on sale, on one table a group of Abraham Lincoln pupils were selling Coach handbags, and jewelry, whilst their neighboring table had a selection of beautiful bed linen, necklaces and earrings. At the other end of the garden Susanna Joa, who owns the restaurant Chinois in the Casa de Campo marina, was showcasing her jewelry from her shop in the Capital. Maris Samayoa de Sosa, from Guatemala had a table of traditional Guatemalan home-ware; napkins, napkins rings Maria Isabel Samayoaand cushions. The final table was shared jointly by the shops Lokekeda and Cupid Libros, which are in La Romana, on Calle Duarte, of particular interest were the jewelry designed by Clarihylar.\n\nThe Cafe de la Leche, is a monthly event which brings together Casa de Campo\u2019s ladies to enjoy a light snack, a few drinks and pleasant conversation with the added bonus of contributing to the Hogar del Ni\u00f1o charity.
