The classes are for everyone and anyone who wants to have fun, gain fitness whilst at the same time learning an ancient martial art, and right now classes are FREE for anyone who wants to try it! The last 2 free classes are next week, Monday the 8th of June and Wednesday the 10th of June.\n\nI attended the classes this week and I loved it! They are high energy and fun, with lots of grunting, as well as being surprisingly challenging – I found myself frustrated at not being able to master the basic ‘block’ technique which looked so simple! As well as being enjoyable, Mylyn explained to me that Taekwondo has many benefits, you can expect to gain the following skills from practicing Taekwondo:\n

(I’m hoping that the others may include a stunning toned physique!)\n\nThe Vedels moved to Casa de Campo at the end of 2008, and with more than 18 years of experience, have now decided to start teaching Taekwondo in Casa de Campo to share their passion with us, the Casa de Campo community!\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\nTaekwondo United has it\u2019s headquarters in Ft. Myers, Florida, led by Grand Master Toby Oliver, Master Ingrid Oliver and Master Geoffrey Rackebrandt, and presently, Taekwondo United has more than 200 students. Taekwondo made its debut as an Olympic Sport in 1988, the only other martial art besides Judo. At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, the Dominican Republic was a medal winner.\n\nIn 2006, the Vedels visited La Romana with their Masters; Ingrid Oliver and Geoffrey Rackebrandt, following which, working closely with Mr. Arquimedes de Jesus, Taekwondo United arranged several tournaments in Florida, to benefit children in La Romana. Through this and the kindness of many participants, enough Taekwondo equipment was collected to be distributed throughout the La Romana community for use in local schools.\n\nThe Vedels have a good relationship with Mr. Arquimedes, who teaches Taekwondo in the Casa de Campo hotel gym and Club de Costa. Together they plan to hold Taekwondo competitions and events.\nThe Vedel Family will be traveling to Florida for the US-Nationals Tournament in July. Their 6 1\/2 year old daughter will be competing in her division, who says \u201dI like TKD, because it\u2019s fun!\u201d\u00a0Master Mylyn and Peter also have many tournaments under their belts. Both are National and Florida State Champions, and have won many local tournaments in the past many years.\u00a0Before relocating to the Dominican Republic, they both were actively involved with teaching, coaching and refereeing Taekwondo.\n\nClasses will be starting in September, at the La Romana Country Club. Time schedule to be confirmed. The classes will be conducted by standards set forth by Taekwondo United, and will follow the guidelines of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF).","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

\n\nTaekwondo United now offers classes in Casa de Campo, taught by Master Mylyn Vedel, her husband Peter Vedel and their daughter, Angeline, every Monday and Wednesday from 4 to 5pm. The classes are for everyone and anyone who wants to have fun, gain fitness whilst at the same time learning an ancient martial art, and right now classes are FREE for anyone who wants to try it! The last 2 free classes are next week, Monday the 8th of June and Wednesday the 10th of June.\n\nI attended the classes this week and I loved it! They are high energy and fun, with lots of grunting, as well as being surprisingly challenging – I found myself frustrated at not being able to master the basic ‘block’ technique which looked so simple! Myers, Florida, led by Grand Master Toby Oliver, Master Ingrid Oliver and Master Geoffrey Rackebrandt, and presently, Taekwondo United has more than 200 students. Taekwondo made its debut as an Olympic Sport in 1988, the only other martial art besides Judo. At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, the Dominican Republic was a medal winner.\n\nIn 2006, the Vedels visited La Romana with their Masters; Ingrid Oliver and Geoffrey Rackebrandt, following which, working closely with Mr. Arquimedes de Jesus, Taekwondo United arranged several tournaments in Florida, to benefit children in La Romana. Through this and the kindness of many participants, enough Taekwondo equipment was collected to be distributed throughout the La Romana community for use in local schools.\n\nThe Vedels have a good relationship with Mr. Arquimedes, who teaches Taekwondo in the Casa de Campo hotel gym and Club de Costa. Together they plan to hold Taekwondo competitions and events.\nThe Vedel Family will be traveling to Florida for the US-Nationals Tournament in July. Their 6 1\/2 year old daughter will be competing in her division, who says \u201dI like TKD, because it\u2019s fun!\u201d\u00a0Master Mylyn and Peter also have many tournaments under their belts. Both are National and Florida State Champions, and have won many local tournaments in the past many years.\u00a0Before relocating to the Dominican Republic, they both were actively involved with teaching, coaching and refereeing Taekwondo.\n\nClasses will be starting in September, at the La Romana Country Club.
