Dominican golfer Willy Pumarol finished in the 16th position in the qualifying tournament for the Latin American PGA Tour, with a global score of 9 strokes below par of the course, out of a total of 106 players in the tournament that was played in Estrella del Mar Golf & Beach Resort, in Mexico. Due to this, Pumarol has managed to get conditional status to play on the PGA Tour LA, which guarantees about 80 percent of Latin American tournaments organized by the PGA Tour for Latin America.
“The goal was to be amongst the first 11, I was two strokes away from achieving it. But the fact of being in the 16th position guarantees me to play in the Tour (PGA LA), which last year I could not play it, “stated the athlete, who is sponsored by Casa de Campo and the Ministry of Tourism. He added “being back on the PGA Tour (LA) gives me peace of mind. Now on to prepare for the Canita Tour, in order to close that tournament the best way possible. ”
Pumarol finished with a 69 card in the final day in which he had to play 27 holes due to weather conditions the third round had to end on the fourth day of competition. 106 professionals played in this event seeking the classification for the tour and the result was defined as satisfactory by Pumarol. During the tournament, he signed cards of 72 + 66 + 72 + 69, the second day (66) being his top figure at the beginning of the year.
Pumarol starts the year in a good note, where he also has a good opportunity to qualify for the Punta Cana Resort PGA Championship, as he has a comfortable advantage in the Canita Tour of the Dominican Republic, which awards places to the first three places of the circuit for said event.
