On May 20th, Casa de Campo with the collaboration of Move RD Eventos hosted the first Casa de Campo 2018 Triathlon. The event was attended by more than 300 athletes and companions, who enjoyed a full of energy and demanding routes. So what is a triathlon? A triathlon is a multiple-stage competition involving the completion of three continuous and sequential endurance disciplines. While many variations of the sport exist, triathlon, in its most popular form, involves swimming, cycling, and running in immediate succession over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall course completion time, including timed “transitions” between the individual swim, cycle, and run components.  Minitas Beach was the meeting point of the first Casa de Campo Triathlon. The competition was divided into five categories: Triathlon Sprint, Triathlon Olimpic, Triathlon Relay, and 5k and 10k races. The swimming segment was very popular amongst the athletes. All agreed upon the fact that it was very fun and different from the usual swimming competitions. This stage was followed by the bicycle competition that demanded a lot from the participants, finishing the event running where the competitors were able to see much of Casa’s beautiful views and landscapes.  The overall winners on both the female and male divisions of the sprint and Olympic modalities received cash prizes. The event also benefitted the Casa de Campo boleritos who helped throughout the day. Athletes and organizers showed great satisfaction and pride in collaborating with a social cause as noble as is the education of children and young people of the community of La Romana. “Thanks to the efforts of Casa de Campo and the support of sponsors and athletes this event has been made for the benefit of those who need it most,” said Matías Territoriale, Tennis Club Director of Casa de Campo. We sure hope this competition becomes an annual event! Congratulations to all who participated, you have all completed an incredible feat!
