What some might designate cumbersome, the fashion world has deemed in style this season. We’ve been watching as sleeves have grown into a phenomenon and the bigger, the better. From the runways to local boutiques, sleeves are trending and making a huge statement. Bishop, Bell-sleeve, Leg-o-Mutton, Ruffle, or just exaggerated fun? Take your pick because they’re popping up everywhere!
Despite the typical presence of florals prevalent at this time of year, the sleeve has taken center stage. It seems that designers everywhere got together to designate Spring/ Summer 2017 the #yearofthesleeve. This was true as collections from fashion capitals all over the world debuted the statement sleeve last Fall and continue to make it a focus in upcoming seasons. While we decide how to elaborate our looks this summer in Casa, take a cue from the professionals and add a little extra sleeve!
Here are some of our favorites:
Nicole Warne’s Street Style at Paris Fashion Week Fall 2016:
This eye-catching bell-sleeve blouse, worn by Gary Pepper Girl blogger, Nicole Warne has us dying to mimic her sleek and effortless style.
Dolce & Gabbana Spring / Summer 2017 Ready-to-Wear:
Dolce & Gabbana didn’t hold back in securing the season’s dominant trend. A puff sleeve with floral patterns to boot, the Italian fashion house was all about some show-stopper ensembles.
Prabal Gurung Spring / Summer 2017 Ready-to-Wear:
Little did we know that a slinky summer dress could be so enhanced by the sleeve. Prabal Gurung transforms this foxy number with dramatic pleated sleeves for a billowing superwoman effect.
Jacquemus Spring/ Summer 2017 Ready-to-Wear:
Architectural shapes by the young French designer, Simon Porte Jacquemus prove that youthfulness has quite the daring edge.
London Fashion Week Spring 2017 Street Style:
Take a nod from London’s street style and stay cool this summer in Casa —even with more fabric. The resort’s warm nights are no match for the year of the sleeve, especially in this slashing, dashing ensemble.
