The 5th La Romana Recycling Contest will take place next Friday, June 9th, hosted by the La Romana – Bayahibe Hotels Association and the La Romana-Bayahibe Tourism Cluster with the objective of encouraging locals to recycle and reduce their negative impact on the natural environment.
Recycling initiatives are popping up more and more as people and companies adopt sustainable practices. We’ve noted the Chavón School of Design’s involvement in Fashion Revolution which seeks to raise the ethical and environmental production standards of the fashion industry, as well as the Patronato Benéficio Oriental’s line of recycled back-to-school accessories.
La Romana – Bayahibe Hotels Association and the La Romana-Bayahibe Tourism Cluster want to encourage and reward the practice of recycling and have created a competition for participants to create an original design using recycled materials. Whether it’s plastic, cardboard, paper and/or glass, there is no theme on what can be created. Let your imaginations run wild! Previous years have seen the production of everything from home decor items to a wedding dress!
The awards ceremony will take place at Multiplaza La Romana — which this month will also host a recycled exhibition next week from the 7th to the 12th. Prizes will be awarded in 3 categories: Most Original, Most Creative, and Best Presentation. Registration is FREE, so if you’re interested simply CLICK HERE to fill out the form!

La Romana Bayahibe Tourism Cluster
The La Romana – Bayahibe Tourism Cluster was founded in 2000 with the purpose to develop the La Romana – Bayahibe region into one of the Dominican Republic’s most popular tourist destinations and the launch of this new annual tournament is just one more initiative amongst many which the La Romana – Bayahibe Tourism Cluster is using to not only promote the destination, but to also make it more appealing to visitors!
