It’s easy to take for granted the Altos de Chavón School of Art and Design – especially when you live in Casa de Campo. It’s easy to forget that hidden behind the beautiful cobbled streets of our famous “village of artists” is a place where art and artists are born every single day…
And a fine example of the talent born out of the Altos de Chavón School of Art and Design is Kamalky Laureano, whose hyperrealistic paintings are taking the world by storm.
Born in the Dominican Republic, Kamalky Laureano, who studied Fine Arts at the Altos de Chavón School of Design in 2004, says he is “motivated by my feelings toward how I experience my life. Art is communication. It is the conscious living of the world around us in every second. My subjects captivate me as if they were music and melodies. I feel compelled to listen to them and play back their song the way I hear it. I am inspired by the singer’s face that sings to me every day.”
“Art imitates life, therefore it must be alive in all ways,” Kamalky Laureano says in describing in his work – and just take a look at these amazing paintings and you’ll see they certainly are alive in every possible way!
