Fall happens to be one of my favorite times of the year; as a forever North Carolinian at heart, I enjoy autumn’s cooler weather, the red and orange leaves that fill the mountain landscapes, and the festivals that always surround this exciting season. Wearing cowboy boots and hunting for the best pumpkin in a pumpkin patch or listening to some bluegrass music at the Autumn Leaves Festival always takes me back to my southern roots. This year though, I have the pleasure of seeing how Casa de Campo celebrates October and I’m more than thrilled to visit Altos de Chavón this weekend for their Fall Festival!
Sunday, October 30th, we’ll see all of Chavón’s establishments – museums, restaurants, shops, and more gathering together in a field day to rediscover Chavón. The artisan village is one of Casa de Campo’s finest attributes and now more than ever we will get to experience the best of it all at once! In the past, Altos de Chavón has hosted family bazaars with various vendors but this year everyone is participating! There will be special brunch menus and mimosas in all the restaurants, sales at local shops, a pop of market of artisans and vendors, as well as a caboodle of fun games for kids!
See the breakdown here:
INFLATABLE GAMES: Multiplaza La Romana is supplying FOUR inflatable rides and bouncy games for children ALL FOR FREE! No ticket required for kids to hop on slides, the jumpy house and an obstacle course! Plus, La Romana’s new mall also brings face-painting, popcorn, candy, and balloons at no cost. It’s an ideal solution for you to bring the kids and watch them have an amazing afternoon around the church, and no doubt sleep like a baby after running around.
LA VECINDAD: Casa de Campo’s daycare for youngsters, La Vecindad will join Chavón’s Fall Fest providing arts and crafts workshops, little tables for drawing and painting, and Halloween goodie preparations. Children are in good shape being watched over and assisted by La Vecindad’s team of teachers and facilitators to help them along.
ALTOS DE CHAVON’S ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM: The Archeological museum that documents the indigenous heritage of the island will be offering educational activities for children. They’ll share information about the Taino Indians and their art, and offer clay making workshops among others. The museum will be offering face-painting as well.
TRICK OR TREAT: Synonymous with October and Halloween is CANDY! Chavón’s Fall Fest wouldn’t be complete without some sweet treats! Casa de Campo Living will provide all ages, toddlers to teens, with a map of all the establishments in Altos de Chavón and where to go to collect candy in trick-or-treating!
COLLARES ROJOS: Collares Rojos (Red Collares) will be setting up a space where kids and adults can meet and play with the cute pups up for adoption. The non-profit organization which cares for abused and neglected animals in the Bayahibe region will be teaching children how to take care of dogs, and treat them in addition to playing. They’ll have coloring books about rescuing animals, and it will certainly make everyone’s day if one gets adopted!
The Altos de Chavón Fall Fest brings families together in a one-day event that follows a weekend full of events from Dueños activities and Casa de Campo’s Halloween parties. In a day that may see many returning to the city, why not go with the family to Chavón and relax before heading home? The pilot event organized by Casa de Campo Living promises to be an excellent way to become reacquainted with Chavón and its spirited environment. Stay tuned this week as we continue to release information on everything going on during this weekend’s Fall Fest, and what’s included in it for you too. SNEEK PEAK: a scavenger hunt featuring $400 dollars worth of spa treatments at the Casa de Campo Spa will be among the Fall Fest activities!
