The Operación Sonrisa República Dominicana (Operation Smile Dominican Republic) is celebrating its 2nd Golf Tournament “For a Smile” today, Saturday April 25th at La Romana Country Club, here in Casa de Campo.
This tournament takes place annually in order to raise money for surgeries programs provided by Operation Smile Dominican Republic for children from low income families suffering malformation cleft lip and palate.
The details of the event were announced at a cocktail party attended by the sponsors, players and the press, on Wednesday, April 22nd at the premises of the Porsche Showroom in Peynado GA in Santo Domingo.
The announcement was made by Mrs. Paul Martinez and Dr. Fernando de la Cruz, CEO and Medical Director of the foundation respectively, who expressed their desire to surpass the achievements from last year event when it was possible to provide surgery to more than 90 children.
Operation Smile Dominican Republic is part of OperationSmileInc, a non-profit organization with a presence in over 60 countries worldwide that specializes in offering completely free reconstructive surgeries for children with cleft lip and palate and other facial deformities through comprehensive treatment by volunteer medical specialists worldwide.
Since its first medical mission back in 2009, Operation Smile Dominican Republic has returned the smile to 713 children through successful surgery and pre- and post-operative dental care, nutrition, psychology and speech therapy programs.
