SAVE THE DATE! CCL presents Chichigua Fest 2010: Saturday 20th February
On Saturday the 20th of February, Casa de Campo Living (CCL) will be hosting a family oriented event for all to enjoy – Chichigua Fest 2010! Chichigua for those of us who don’t speak ‘Dominican’ means ‘kite’ and so the ChiChiGua Fest 2010 will be an afternoon of fun for all the family – with kite flying contests, a BBQ and of course a bar!
Our ChiChiGua Fest 2010 will take place this month on Saturday the 20th of February at the Club de Polo in Casa de Campo – the kite flying contests will take place on one of the polo fields while a bar, BBQ, seats and tables will be set up nearby for those of you just watching the contest, or for those not even remotely interested in kites, to just enjoy the sun, atmosphere and some roast pig!
‘ChiChiGua Fest 2010‘ was inspired from what used to be an annual Altos de Chavon event, which was very popular among families and residents of Casa de Campo and La Romana. This is an annual tradition which we have decided to restart now! With ChiChiGua Fest 2010 we aim to lure Casa de Campo residents and families out of their own villas, to enjoy a day of sun, wind and fun with their families, neighbours families and friends. Casa de Campo is a huge community and Casa de Campo Living is here to help bring us all together!! Let’s start having fun!
There will be NO entrance fee to the event, but there will be a small fee to register to take part in the Chichigua competitions – USD$10 per participating kite (if purchased in advance) and $15 if purchased the day of. To take part in the competition you will be able to register and pay ONLINE (coming soon), spaces will be limited so this will be the ONLY way to guarantee your place.
The Chichigua contest will be split into 4 categories, as follows:
- Children (under 16)
- Adults (17 and over)
Shop-bought kites:
- Children (under 16)
- Adults (17 and over)
We are also looking at having kites available to BUY. If we can find a good supplier, we will allow you to view the options and pre-order them online when you register for the competition (coming soon). We will also be bringing you a few recommendations on where one can go to purchase a kite, as well as how to put one together yourselves! We are hoping to hold a ‘kite-building workshop’ to help people build their own kites – materials will be included in the price of the workshop, more info SOON.
NOT INTERESTED IN KITES? It doesn’t matter! The spirit of the event is to get people out and about and TOGETHER having fun – so if you don’t want to fly a kite, you would be more than welcome to join us, watch the competition, enjoy a drink or 2 and of course enjoy the BBQ.
At this stage the event is still being planned and so we are still finalizing the fine points but one thing is for sure – it’s going to be a FUN afternoon! If you have any inquiries about the event or suggestions which could help us make it even better – leave a comment below or email us: info@casadecampoliving.com
We hope you’re as excited as we are!!
