Casa de Campo’s francophone inhabitants were out in force on Saturday night in the Marina Casa de Campo where Elementos, art and art-furniture store was celebrating it’s ‘Grand Opening’ with a wine and cheese evening.

The event was hosted by Jean-Pierre Frey and his wife Caroline,  who own the shop ‘Elementos’ which opened in the Marina Casa de Campo last year.  The opening was held to welcome customers and friends to their new store, which is brimming with beautiful art – paintings, murals, sculptures and furniture.

Jean Pierre’s unique and gorgeous art-furniture is made from the remains of old traditional Dominican houses – the ones painted pink, blue, green – hence the furniture’s unique mix of eclectic colours. Each piece is hand-made in his workshop in La Romana, where he transforms useless pieces of old wood into functional pieces of furniture, that not only look good as furniture, but can serve as the focal point of any room – just like any other work of art.

As well as furniture Jean Pierre also has a number of Dominican-inspired paintings, that perfectly reflect the Dominican culture and lifestyle with all it’s vibrancy and color!

cheese!Throughout the evening, guests were invited to enjoy wine and cheese which had been provided by Casa Wine Shop – a wine delivery service and shop owned and ran by Carole Trembley, who recently organised the VERY successful ‘Paseo en el Rio.’ As always with Carole, the wine was delicious – she only sells the very best imported wines from France, Italy and California, and whatever your wine preference Carole is always more than happy to discuss which wine would be best for you. She also sells French cheeses, imported from France – which were served during the evening and were absolutely delicious! Carole has a FREE wine and imported foods delivery service, to read more click here.

Casa Wine Shop is currently offering Chardonnay Buena Vista Carneros 2007, for the bargain price of RD$860.00 (normal price RD$980.00)

It was a very successful evening – enjoyed by many, below are all my photos:
