The Miracle Child – the perfect show to welcome December! By Priscilla Baez
Every year the Abraham Lincoln School takes on the challenge to produce a Christmas show and a special performance by the Abraham Lincoln Choir. As the years pass the productions get better and better!

This year the choir sweetened our ears with traditional Christmas carols such as Holy Night and they even included a traditional Scottish song called Erisky Love Lilt. The choir is composed by students from grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 12. They were lead by the talented music professor Jenna McGuire.
This year’s production was called “The Miracle Child.”
“The Miracle Child” is about a family getting ready to celebrate Christmas. As Christmas gets closer, the children start to get excited, focusing on their parents and the family begin to talkabout what Christmas means to them.
The house staff overheard the conversation between the family and this prompts them to have their own discussion about what Christmas used to be like in the old days.
When asked what they would like for Christmas, most of the children think of one special gift, until the question gets to Rikki (played by Alexa Briones). “There’s SOO much” that Rikki wants, she doesn’t even know where to start!
After a family discussion about why presents are given for Christmas, Rikki realises that it is better to give than to receive and therefore learns the real meaning of Christmas.
This production was performed by grades 2, 4 and 5. They should all be proud of themselves for producing such an amazing show and sending a heart-warming message to the public!
We would also like to congratulate the Abraham Lincoln School Teaching Staff for putting their time and effort to produce this wonderful evening. Special mentions go to Graham Hockley (director), Jenna McGuire (music director/ choreographer), James Chan (lighting director) and Debbie de la Rosa (project coordinator).
We would like to thank all the parents and students that attended the performances! We appreciate your support.
