Only in the DR: gas by the jug at a rural gas station

Submitted by Rebecca on November 12, 2009 – No Comment

gas station

This week’s photo of a classic Dominican scene, one you’re unlikely to spot in any other country, was taken from the Flickr account of Clyde Bentley.

Clyde took this photo when holidaying in the Dominican Republic. Here Clyde explains his photograph:

Gasoline is $6 per gallon in a country where many make $1 per hour or less. So motorbikes outnumber cars and gas is purchased by the gallon jug from neighborhood “stations.”

What a fantastic photo!
