Blue Marlin World Record Breaking Fish caught in Casa de Campo Marina!

We have recently received news that Bonnie Anderson, member of the Marina Casa de Campo fishing club, is in fact a fishing world record holder! Bonnie holds the record for a fish she caught last April which weighed a whopping 151 pounds and was caught with 16 pound tippet!
Here’s what Bonnie has to say about it:
“I finally received word a couple of days ago from the International Game Fish Association that my fly fishing Blue Marlin world record has been confirmed! What made this sweeter was that when I got the email I was on board the Andy swordfishing with the same captain and one of the two mates involved. (We hugged for about 20 seconds and got back to fishing…) It’s a big deal to us, though. We worked very hard for three months for this.
Only one other woman (and three men) have fly fishing world record Blue Marlin catches. The other woman caught her fish on my boat last year at Casa de Campo.. on 20 pound tippet (stronger line, for those of you who aren’t as nutty as I am about fishing.) To steal from Hemingway; Blue Marlin are the bravest, most macho fish in the ocean, to catch one on conventional gear is a lifelong dream; to do it on fly fishing equipment is completely crazy – not that that will surprise any of you who know me well!”
The World Record section on the IGFA website is available only to members, but we’ve been able to include it for you to see below, because Bonnie kindly sent us a copy!

The other lady that Bonnie mentions is actually Stacey G Parkerson, who you can see from the table holds a world record for landing a 172lb 11oz fish with 20lb tippet. Both record-breaking fish were caught here in Casa de Campo and by two friends and on the same boat…is there something fishy going on?
Well done Bonnie and Stacey!
